Dbeibah receives UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs

Tripoli: The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, “Abdul Hamid Dabaiba”, received today, Sunday, “Rosemary DiCarlo”, the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Political Affairs.

The government’s media office stated that the two parties discussed the political developments and events in Libya and the importance of pushing the political process forward in order to hold parliamentary and presidential elections according to fair and just laws and unify international and local efforts to support stability in the country.

Dabaiba briefed the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations on the efforts made by the government within the framework of the (Capital of Peace) campaign, which aims to improve the security situation in the capital, Tripoli, including enhancing security, releasing those illegally detained, strengthening the rule of law and achieving justice.

The two parties agreed to support the efforts of the United Nations mission to achieve sustainable stability in Libya and
facilitate the political transition process through dialogue and national reconciliation.

The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Adel Jumaa, Minister of Communication and Political Affairs Walid Al-Lafi, and the Minister in charge of running the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Taher Al-Baour and his deputy, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Acting Head of the UN Mission Stephanie Khoury.
