Dabaiba: The unity government derives its legitimacy from the political agreement

Tripoli: The head of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, said that the Government of National Unity derives its legitimacy from the political agreement included in the Constitutional Declaration, and is committed to its outcomes, which stipulated that the government end its duties by holding presidential and legislative elections, and end the transitional phase.

This came during the meeting held by Dabaiba in Tripoli today, Wednesday, with the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Acting Head of the United Nations Mission in Libya, Stephanie Khoury.

The meeting was devoted, according to the media office of the Prime Minister, to following up on the latest developments in the political scene, and discussing the role of the United Nations Mission in Libya.

Dabaiba added that the government considers that the decisions taken by the Presidency of the House of Representatives do not change anything in the Libyan reality, and that they are positions issu
ed by a political party struggling to extend the term for the longest possible period.

Dabaiba continued that the Government of National Unity deals with repeated statements as a non-binding political opinion, and a form of freedom of expression for one of the political parties.
