Culture Summit Abu Dhabi 2024 enhances role of culture in sustainable development: Minsiters

ABU DHABI: Ministers from Morocco, Paraguay, and Nigeria attending the Culture Summit Abu Dhabi 2024 emphasised the critical role of culture in achieving sustainable development within their respective societies.

Held under the theme ‘A Matter of Time’, the summit brought together cultural leaders, artists, and experts to explore the future of the cultural sector and its potential to drive positive change.

Highlighting the UAE’s commitment to cultural development, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Culture, Youth and Communication of Morocco, praised the country’s efforts in this domain. He stated, “The UAE is a pioneer in investing in the cultural sector, recognising it as a key pillar for development, fostering creativity, and strengthening national identity among young people.”

The summit also served as a platform for showcasing cultural diversity. Adriana Ortiz, Minister of Culture of Paraguay, expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to share the cultural heritage of Latin American countries. “T
his event provided a stage to highlight the rich heritage and unique cultures of our people,” she remarked.

Emphasising the importance of international collaboration, Hannatu Musa Musawa, Minister of Culture and Creative Economy of Nigeria, commended the UAE for facilitating knowledge exchange. “This exceptional summit offered a valuable opportunity for countries to share experiences, enhance cooperation, and establish a new global framework for understanding culture’s role in society,” she stated.

Organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, the summit concluded today after three days of insightful discussions, knowledge sharing, and exploring innovative approaches to harnessing the power of culture for a sustainable future.
