BEIJING: China has unveiled the CR450 high-speed train prototype, setting a new global standard with a test speed of 450 km/h and an operational speed of 400 km/h. This groundbreaking development positions the CR450 as the fastest high-speed train in the world, outpacing the CR400, which operates at a speed of 350 km/h.
According to Emirates News Agency, the CR450 introduces advancements in speed, energy efficiency, noise reduction, and safety. The train’s design incorporates advanced braking technology that ensures stability while maintaining braking distances comparable to those of slower trains. This innovation is pivotal in managing the increased speeds safely.
Passenger comfort is a key focus for the CR450, featuring noise-reduction systems that promise a quieter ride and expanded cabin space designed for versatility. The train accommodates a variety of passenger needs, offering storage options for items such as bicycles and wheelchairs. The CR450 also incorporates energy-saving improvements, including a lighter structure and reduced resistance, enhancing sustainability without compromising on speed.
Developed by CRRC Changchun and CRRC Sifang, the CR450 has undergone rigorous testing on major rail lines, surpassing 200,000 kilometers of trial runs alongside thousands of simulations. These extensive testing measures underscore China’s commitment to advancing its high-speed rail technology and solidifying its position as a leader in the global rail industry.
