Bathily stresses need for electoral laws to be approved by all Libyan parties.

The UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, announced, Monday, the agreement with HNEC in Libya on the need to address the controversial points about electoral laws according to a constructive and comprehensive approach.

Bathily said in a tweet he posted on his Twitter account that he met today in Tripoli with the head of the High National Elections Commission, Imad Al-Sayeh, to discuss the latest developments in preparing for elections, pointing out that the remaining contentious points in the electoral bills must be addressed through constructive and comprehensive approach.

Bathily stressed the need for electoral bills to be applicable and approved by all stakeholders.

The UN envoy added in his tweet that the importance of involving all relevant institutions to ensure the integrity of the political process was emphasized during the meeting.

Bathily reaffirmed to Al-Sayeh the United Nations continued technical support for the commission and the need for all parties to work together to ensure comprehensive and credible elections in Libya that reflect the will of the people.
