Bangladesh President dissolves parliament after PM resigns

Bangladesh President Mohammad Shahabuddin Tuesday announced the dissolution of parliament, a day after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled amid anti-government protests.

According to France 24, the spokesperson for the Bangladeshi presidency, Shibzaman, stated that the country’s president’s decision to dissolve parliament was issued by the president hours after meeting with student leaders demanding a deadline to dissolve parliament and form an interim government.
