Awareness campaign aims water conservation during Hajj


MAKKAH: Saudi Arabia’s National Water Efficiency and Conservation Centre (MAEE) has launched an awareness campaign during the Hajj season 1445 A.H., Saudi Press Agency reported on Friday.

As part of the “Rationalising Water Consumption in Makkah, the Holy Sites, and Madinah” initiative, the campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of conserving water. MAEE is working in collaboration with the water sector in the Kingdom to provide the best services to pilgrims.

During this Hajj season, MAEE is implementing a multilingual awareness campaign targeting Hajj pilgrims, Umrah performers, and visitors through various media channels. The centre is also distributing informative brochures that emphasise the significance of water conservation based on Islamic principles.

The campaign promotes the responsibility of conserving water, stresses its impact on sustainability, and involves partnerships with public, non-profit sectors, as well as Hajj service providers and organisers from outside the Kingdom.

AEE is committed to implementing best practices for enhancing the efficiency of the water supply chain, promoting responsible water usage for urban, industrial, and agricultural purposes, and fostering collaboration between governmental and non-governmental bodies in water efficiency and conservation efforts.
