ALGIERS: The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) praised the efforts of the United Arab Emirates at all levels across regional and international forums to support Arab countries, especially Palestine.
In a statement at the conclusion of AIPU’s 36th Conference in Algiers, the Union said that the UAE has led the world in providing humanitarian and medical aid to the Gaza Strip and in diplomatic efforts to halt the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, during the country’s candidacy as a non-permanent UN Security Council seat, which adopted UN Security Council Resolution 2720.
It also praised the country’s contribution to the adoption of a resolution with a majority of 143 votes in the UN General Assembly, calling for the full membership of the State of Palestine and granting it its deserved privileges in international and regional meetings.
The Union also commended the UAE’s exceptional efforts at the Arab, regional, and international levels, regarding issues of global concern, including hosting the 28th UN Clima
te Change Conference (COP28) and its contribution to enhancing international efforts to address one of the world’s most challenging issues posed by climate change.
The Federal National Council’s parliamentary delegation was led by Tariq Humaid Al Tayer, First Deputy Speaker of the FNC and several FNC members.
