Aqaba Port Sees Decline in Container Traffic

Amman: A total of 159,739 containers were imported via the Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) during the first five months of 2024, marking a decrease from 189,903 containers during the same period last year.

According to the Jordanian Logistics Association (JLA), exports from the Kingdom through the ACT also went down during the same comparison period, with 39,394 containers shipped, compared to 42,802.

President of JLA, Nabil Khatib, attributed the 19 percent decrease in imports and the 38 percent drop in exports to the ongoing navigation crisis in the Red Sea.
