Announcing the beginning of the real battle against corruption.. Judge Hanoun from Erbil: Unifying efforts with the KRG is the basis for success

The head of the Integrity Commission, Judge Haider Hanoun, stressed: “Unifying efforts with the Kurdistan Region Integrity Commission is the basis for success.”

Hanoun said in a joint press conference with the head of the Integrity Commission: “Combating corruption in any region is a shared responsibility, and we are in Erbil to issue a joint agreement to combat corruption.”

He added: “We announce the beginning of the real battle against corruption starting today.”

Regarding the case of the accused Nour Zuhair, Hanoun explained: “Nour Zuhair has crimes other than stealing tax deposits, as he stole 720 dunums in Shatt al-Arab, and forged 114 financial checks, and he must be punished with 114 sentences.”

He continued: “We have defendants accused of stealing tax deposits who have been detained for two years and have not been tried.”

He continued, saying: “We do not accept covering up the theft of tax deposits, and it is part of our policy to publish the facts to citizens, and the parliament has the responsi
bility to prove that the Integrity Commission is favoring the corrupt or not.”

The head of the Integrity Commission pointed out: “The files of recovering funds were followed up with Interpol, and the recovery of those accused of corruption is ongoing and most countries are cooperating with us.”

Regarding corruption in the railways, he said: “18 billion dollars were wasted in the railway case,” describing this case as a coup against Iraq in order to return it to the era of “cart.”

Hanoun concluded by saying: “I only own two plots of land in Maysan Governorate, and what was circulated about my extortion of departments is incorrect.”
