Al-Sudani stresses the importance of completing the formation of the local government in Kirkuk and ensuring that no component is marginalized


Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani stressed the importance of completing the formation of the local government in Kirkuk, achieving consensus between representatives of the fraternal components of the governorate, and ensuring that no component is marginalized in decision-making.

The Prime Minister’s media office said in a statement: “Today, Thursday, Al-Sudani received members of the Kirkuk Provincial Council from the Arab component, as part of his follow-up of the efforts of the national forces in the council to choose a governor for the governorate, and to proceed with the formation of the local government.”

During the meeting, Al-Sudani stressed: ‘The importance of completing the formation of the local government, consensus among representatives of the fraternal components of the governorate, ensuring everyone’s effective participation, and not marginalizing any component in decision-making, because of the specificity of the governorate, and the necessity of all national forces cooperating in it,
in order to achieve the aspirations of its people, with the integration with the government programme and plans in the service and development aspects, and the achievement of an economic renaissance, in integration with the government program and its goals, which meet the needs of citizens in all parts of Iraq.

Ali stressed: ‘The government’s success in holding local elections in Kirkuk, after it was difficult to hold them since 2005, represents an important step on the path to consolidating stability in the province, and fulfilling what it promised in its programme,’ indicating: ‘The provincial councils and local governments are the executive wing and the supportive backing of the government, as it seeks to complete its service and economic tasks and duties, in various areas of development.’
