Al-Sudani meets with the head of the Independent High Electoral Commission and issues a number of directives

Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani met today, Tuesday, with the Chairman of the Independent High Electoral Commission, Omar Ahmed Muhammad, and his deputy, member of the Board of Commissioners, Fayyad Yassin.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the Council of the Commission gave a comprehensive presentation of the measures taken within the agenda of tasks and work allocated to holding the governorate council elections, and the preparations that are progressing at an increasing pace.

During the meeting, according to a statement by the Prime Minister’s Office, it was emphasized that all steps would be within the stipulated contexts, and to ensure that technical matters were completed.

The Chairman of the Commission Council also presented the required budget from financial allocations for the purpose of holding elections for the Kurdistan Regional Parliament in February 2024.

The Prime Minister directed to remove all obstacles related to employee requests and contractor wages and their disbursement, and directed the Ministry of Finance to release the necessary allocations.

He also directed the Ministry of Education to cooperate with the Commission, as well as other official government agencies.

Al-Sudani directed that technical treatments be carried out regarding the observations that were installed in the simulation process, which he recently attended.

For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners confirmed that these observations are in the process of being processed and a number of simulation tests will be conducted in order to confirm them once and for all, in front of the eyes of the political forces and the participants in the elections.
