Al-Sudani and Macron: The continued escalation of events in Gaza has serious repercussions on regional and international peace and security

Baghdad Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani received today, Sunday, a phone call from French President Emmanuel Macron, during which they discussed the rapid developments in the region, the dangerous events taking place in the occupied Palestinian territories due to the Zionist occupation authorities’ continued attacks on civilians in the Gaza Strip, and the importance of continuing efforts to find a quick solution to what is happening.

The Prime Minister’s Media Office said in a statement, “It was emphasized that the continued escalation of events has serious repercussions on regional and international peace and security, in addition to the agreement to maintain communication and joint efforts to ceasefire and contain the conflict in order to reach comprehensive and just solutions.”

During the call, Al-Sudani stressed that the crisis did not begin on the seventh of last October, but rather it is deep and extends to decades of non-compliance with international laws and legitimacy, by the occupation authorities who subjected an entire people to imprisonment for no fault of their own, which generated an overwhelming feeling of oppression and injustice inside and outside Palestine. .

For his part, the French President pointed out the need to take serious action to prevent the conflict from expanding, and to spare civilians from the consequences of what will happen.

The statement explained that it was agreed between the two sides on the necessity of working to secure an immediate ceasefire and opening humanitarian crossings for aid to enter the besieged people of Gaza, as well as working to prevent escalation and stop human suffering in Gaza.
