Jerusalem – Ma’an – Al-Quds University honored a group of its researchers from the medical, humanities, social and applied colleges for the academic year 2022-2023, in appreciation of their efforts in enriching scientific research and publishing their research in peer-reviewed scientific journals. The event was organized by the Deanship of Scientific Research under the patronage of the university president, Prof. Imad Abu Kishk, and attended by the Dean of Scientific Research, Dr. Ilham Al-Khatib, and a number of researchers and students.
Prof. Imad Abu Kishk stressed that the strategy and culture of Al-Quds University is based on developing scientific research to advance it and find effective solutions for society at all levels, as this is a responsibility that falls on the university and must be achieved efficiently. He indicated that the university competes today at the global level, not just the local level, and the importance of working collectively to achieve qualitative leaps that distinguish it from
others and maintain this leading position and move forward.
He expressed his happiness with this annual event organized by the Deanship to honor and encourage researchers, praising the efforts of those in charge of this day, the researchers and the participating students. He also expressed his great support for students’ research and graduation projects to transform them into research papers published in the most prestigious international journals.
‘The 2022-2023 academic year has been a distinguished one for scientific research at Al-Quds University, as it has witnessed a significant increase in high-quality research production. This progress has enhanced the university’s reputation on the global stage for scientific excellence, as confirmed by the prestigious QS World University Rankings, which awarded us a five-star rating for our excellence in all areas of excellence,’ said Dr. Ilham Al-Khatib.
She added, ‘We are proud of Al-Quds University’s research output and the participation of students, staff and
affiliates in this achievement.’ She praised the role of distinguished female researchers in publishing for their contribution to 93 articles, representing 51% of the publications in the academic year 2022-2023, and their leadership of 40% of them as principal investigators. In addition, 24% of their publications appeared in Scopus indexed journals in the first and second quarters.
Dr. Al-Khatib provided numbers and percentages for published research papers, seven patents in vital fields such as: diagnostic research in cancer and mental health, and articles indexed in Scopus.
During the ceremony, awards were distributed for the best published research in the faculties of humanities, biomedical and applied sciences, the active researcher award in each of the university’s various faculties, the most active research group award, the best master’s thesis in each of the university’s faculties, and the distinguished publication award in the highest-impact Scopus publications (Scopus Q1 and Q2).

earchers were also honored, in addition to the researchers affiliated with Al-Quds University (AQU Research Affiliate Program), who published in Scopus journals.
It is noteworthy that this event is held annually at Al-Quds University to honor researchers, academics and students, in appreciation of their efforts in publishing prestigious scientific research and contributing to enriching this important field that the university is concerned with within its strategy, to provide a university research environment and encourage research, innovation and community leadership.
