Al-Maliki Stresses The Need To Consolidate Security, Strengthen State Authority, And Continue To Intensify Efforts To Support Border Security

The head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, stressed today, Saturday, the necessity of establishing security, strengthening state authority, and continuing to intensify efforts to support border security, expressing his hope that the agreement concluded between Iraq and Iran will contribute to the return of calm in the border areas between the two countries.

Al-Maliki’s media office said in a statement, “The head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, received in his office today the National Security Advisor, Qassem Al-Araji, and during the meeting, the latest developments in the political and security situation in Iraq and the region were reviewed.”

Al-Maliki pointed out, “The issue of the return of the displaced to their areas of residence and the closure of the camps for the displaced is a matter of utmost importance after the defeat of the terrorist ISIS, and it is necessary to improve the reality of services there, and to preserve and perpetuate the security achievements achieved in a way that enhances the citizen’s confidence in the state.”

In turn, Al-Araji reviewed his recent visit to Tehran and Kurdistan and the border agreement between Iraq and Iran, stressing that what happened is part of the government’s policy to stop the aggression on our borders, as “we went to the bilateral agreement, which included among its provisions the deployment of border guard forces, disarmament, emptying the camps, and preventing the infiltration of militants.
