Ajman Chamber, Embassy of Belgium discussing opportunities to develop trade and investment exchange

AJMAN, 19th May, 2023 (WAM) Abdullah Al Muwaiji, Chairman of the Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), welcomed Antoine Delcourt, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium in the UAE, and his accompanying delegation to explore trade cooperation prospects and investment opportunities between the two countries. The meeting signifies the Ajman Chamber’s commitment to fostering an expanded global economic network, supporting growth and business development opportunities, and positioning the emirate as an attractive investment destination. Present at the Ajman Chamber’s headquarters were Mohamed Ali Al Janahi, Executive Director of the Trade Development and International Relations Sector, and Jamila Kajoor, Director of the Promotion and International Relations Department at the Ajman Chamber. From the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium, Yoke Wagemans, Investment and Trade Counsellor, and Joren Selleslaghs, Counsellor Political Affairs and Deputy Head of Mission, were also in attendance. Abdullah Al Muwaiji expressed his appreciation for the attendees and conveyed the Ajman Chamber’s keenness to expand trade and enhance investment between Ajman and Belgium. He emphasised the Chamber’s readiness to provide support and foster strong economic ties between companies and entrepreneurs from both countries, while offering an exceptional investment environment for Belgian business owners. During the meeting, bilateral relations between Ajman and Belgium in the fields of economy, trade, and investment were reviewed. Discussions revolved around future economic cooperation opportunities, particularly in sectors such as tourism, industry, trade, education, health, and technology. The attendees emphasised the importance of organising bilateral meetings between the business communities in Ajman and Belgium, facilitating the exchange of experiences and best practices, and exploring avenues for increased cooperation among private sector entities. They also highlighted the significance of participation in exhibitions, events, and future visits. Antoine Delcourt praised the economic diversification of Ajman and the promising investment opportunities it offers, which will strengthen bilateral cooperation and trade exchange between the two countries. He provided insights into Belgium’s key economic sectors and industries. Statistics reveal the depth of economic relations between the UAE and Belgium, with non-oil trade reaching approximately US$7 billion in 2021. Belgium stands as the UAE’s fourth-largest trading partner within the European Union (EU), accounting for approximately 13.4 percent of non-oil foreign trade between the UAE and the EU. The meeting concluded with an exchange of shields and souvenirs between Abdullah Al Muwaiji and Antoine Delcourt.
