ADAFSA organises various events, competitions at Sheikh Zayed Festival 2024


ABU DHABI: The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) will participate in the 2024 Sheikh Zayed Festival, running from 1st November 2024 to 28th February 2025 in Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi.

Aligned with the “Year of Sustainability” and the ‘Plant the Emirates’, ADAFSA aims to promote sustainable agriculture and advance food security.

Its pavilion will feature the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Agricultural Excellence Award, encouraging UAE farmers to adopt sustainable practices with AED10 million in total prizes.

The festival will include 87 competitions with prizes totalling AED4.6 million and host five festivals: Al Wathba Agricultural, Food, Livestock, Honey, and the new Flower Festival.

ADAFSA’s Agricultural Oasis will present the “Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Security Data Platform,” enhancing decision-making for sustainable food systems. Additionally, the Oasis will have a Majlis and a space for the “Plant the Emirates” programme.

s, produced with SpaceToon, covering topics such as food safety, water conservation, and food waste.

ADAFSA will also highlight its “Zadna Rating” Programme, providing public food safety assessments for local establishments and promoting high food safety standards.

The Oasis will host a Farmers’ Market where local producers can sell fresh goods and honey, supporting income growth and sector development.

Badr Hassan Al Shehhi, Director of the Communication and Community Engagement Division, stated that ADAFSA’s pavilion reflects the late UAE Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s, vision for agricultural progress. ADAFSA’s presence at the festival aims to raise awareness on Abu Dhabi’s agriculture, food safety, and security, highlighting ADAFSA’s role in sustainable development.
