Abu Dhabi International Book Fair enhances intellectual, cultural communication: Muslim Council of Elders Secretary-General


ABU DHABI: Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, affirmed that the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair is a leading international platform for intellectual and cultural communication among various civilisations and a significant avenue for spreading awareness and culture among nations and peoples.

He also commended the UAE’s efforts under its wise leadership in supporting thought, creativity, and culture. These have contributed to enriching the global cultural landscape and promoting the values of dialogue, tolerance, and coexistence.

In a statement, Abdelsalam said that Egypt’s selection as the guest of honour for this edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair confirms the depth of fraternal relations and cultural ties between the UAE and the Arab Republic of Egypt.

He noted that it also reflects the keenness of both nations to enhance cultural cooperation and exchange experiences in various fields. He expressed deep appreciation for Egypt’s pioneering role and
intellectual and cultural contributions across ages in the fields of thought, literature, and science.

The Secretary-General further added that the Muslim Council of Elders participated in the book fair, featuring over 220 publications in five languages, including 22 new releases, addressing key issues. It also has a distinguished cultural programme comprising activities and events discussing dialogue, tolerance, peacebuilding, and the environment. It stems from the council’s mission under His Eminence Dr. Ahmed el-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, to promote peace and solidify the values of dialogue, tolerance, and coexistence.
