Abdullah Bin Zayed Receives Syrian Transitional Government’s Foreign Minister


Abu Dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, today received Asaad al-Shibani, Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Syrian Transitional Government. Sheikh Abdullah welcomed al-Shibani and his accompanying delegation during the meeting.

According to Emirates News Agency, the two diplomats discussed enhancing the strong fraternal relations between the UAE and Syria in areas of mutual interest. They reviewed the developments in Syria and the current regional situation, addressing several issues of mutual concern. Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed the UAE’s support for Syria’s independence and sovereignty, emphasizing solidarity with the Syrian people and support for efforts aimed at achieving security, peace, and stability.

Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the importance of ensuring security and stability for the Syrian people to build a prosperous future. The meeting was attended by several UAE officials, including Mohammed bin Mubarak Fadel Al Mazrouei, Reem bi
nt Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, and Hassan Ahmed Al Shehhi.

The Syrian delegation included Murhaf Abu Qasra, Minister of Defence; Syrian Minister of Electricity, Omar al-Shuqruq; Ghiath Diab, Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources; and Anas Khattab, Intelligence Chief.
