A local source reported that a young man drowned and two others were rescued in an irrigation river northeast of Baqubah, Diyala Governorate Center.
The source told the correspondent of the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / that “a group of young men were swimming in the Mahrot River near the Muqdadiyah district, northeast of Baqubah, / 3 / of them were exposed to drowning, and two of them were rescued at the last moment, while the third drowned.”
He pointed out that “the total number of drowning victims in Diyala reached 34 cases during the current year.
