A lawyer survives an assassination attempt in Baghdad and the Association narrates the details of the incident


The Iraqi Bar Association announced today, Thursday, that a lawyer survived an assassination attempt north of the capital, Baghdad.

The Association said in a statement, “(Hussam al-Din Abdul Latif Jassim), the lawyer in the Karrada Chamber, survived a treacherous assassination attempt he was subjected to near Al-Shaab’s Court building, today, Thursday, after being shot by his opponent’s brothers in one of the cases.”

The Iraqi Bar Association “strongly condemned this sinful attack,” stressing “its close follow-up of the incident in coordination with the competent security authorities to ensure the arrest of all perpetrators and bringing them to justice.”

It indicated that “the Association stresses that the safety of lawyers while performing their professional and legal duties is a top priority, and we are still demanding its legal and security guarantees.”

It expressed its support for the fellow lawyer in these circumstances.”
