A Large Fire In A Residential Complex Under Construction in Baghdad

Civil Defense teams took full control over a major fire accident that broke out inside a store of electrical materials, cables, and chemicals used in construction work in “Marina” residential complex, which is under construction and in violation of the safety instructions issued by the Civil Defense Directorate, in Al-Saydiyah area, south of Baghdad, this morning, Friday.

The civil defense teams mobilized and sent (20) specialized fire trucks and another supporting fire truck with full crews, and pushed their weight towards Baghdad-Karkh side to control the fire after they carried out the direct intrusion operations by making holes in the sheets of “building” boards and entered the middle of the burning warehouse, and were able to extinguish the fire despite the intensity of toxic gas emissions associated with the combustion of chemicals and plastics, no human injuries were recorded.

The Civil Defense requested the opening of an investigation at the police station responsible for the geographical area and summoning a forensic expert to determine the causes of the fire outbreak, and holding accountable those who were negligent in applying the occupational safety procedures issued by the Civil Defense Directorate despite previous warnings.
