A delegation from HoR participates in the 3rd summit of African parliamentarians on climate policy and climate justice.

A number of members of the House of Representatives (HoR) participated in the 3rd summit of African parliamentarians on climate policy and climate justice, held at the headquarters of the African Parliament in Midrand, South Africa.

The HoR stated on its Facebook page that the summit was held on the sidelines of the 2nd ordinary session of the 6th legislative session at the headquarters of the African Parliament under the title “Just and Smooth Transition and Implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions in Response to African Development Aspirations and Economic Reality.”

Among the participating members were ,Youssef Al-Fakhri, Salem Qinan, and, Saleh Qelma, The summit was also attended by the Libyan ambassador, members of the diplomatic corps in South Africa, and representatives of the African Union Commission and the EU.

This summit aims to set a joint African agenda in the process of the global assessment and to prepare for the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change meeting of the Conference of the Parties.

It also aims to increase adaptation and climate action with local leadership, capacity building, awareness raising, exchange of views, and coordination between parliamentarians in implementing specific policies, in addition to providing parliamentary support and scrutiny of climate change procedures and policies.
