64 rumors recorded last August-Akeed


The Jordanian Media Credibility Observatory (Akeed) recorded 64 rumors last August, propagated on local or foreign media outlets and social platforms.

In its monthly report on Sunday, Akeed said a total of 16 fake items were dismissed out of 64, recording an increase of 2 cases, compared 14 rumors that were denied last July.

Akeed added that a total of 18 political rumors ranked 1st at 28%, followed by security field in the 2nd place with 17 rumors at 26.5%, while 12 social misinformation cases racked up the third slot at 19%, a third of which dealt with educational issues related to the start of the new school year and the announcement of Tawjihi results.

Additionally, economic rumors came in the 4th place, recording 8% cases at 12.5%, while public affairs items came in the 5th place, and the health sector garnered the 6th and last ranking, recording 3 rumors at 5%, Akeed pointed out.

Akeed said 52 rumors emerged on social platforms at 81%, while 12 fake items surfaced in traditional media outlets at 19%
