196 Kgs Of Drugs Destroyed In Baghdad

The Committee for the Destruction of Narcotic Substances announced the destruction of 196 kg of narcotic substances in Baghdad.

A member of the Supreme National Commission for Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Affairs, Ashraf Al-Dahan, Director General of the Non-Governmental Organizations Department in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, said in a statement: Approximately 196 kg of narcotic substances were destroyed in the forensic medicine department in the capital, Baghdad, which were seized by legal records and at the rate of (90) kg of Captagon, (57) kg of opium, (46) kg of crystal, and (2) kg of hashish.

Al-Dahan stressed that the destruction of drugs is an achievement of the Iraqi government and the government program, and it is an important step to eliminate the spread of drugs, indicating that the process of destroying drugs went through three stages, the first in which packages were prepared and the place of destruction was set, the second stage was the stage of loading and transportation, and the third was the process of burning and destroying drugs and psychotropic substances.

He explained that the process of destroying the quantity in the incinerator took place under the supervision of the Committee for the Destruction of Narcotic Substances, at a temperature of (1300) degrees Celsius, after which the narcotic substances were tested for the purpose of ensuring their ineffectiveness.
