1.5M families to benefit from new Egyptian initiative

The Ministry of Social Solidarity, in collaboration with the National Alliance for Civil Development Work, the Decent Life Foundation, and the Egyptian Red Crescent, has announced the launch of a comprehensive developmental campaign titled “One Hand” starting next Saturday. This initiative aims to serve 1.5 million of the neediest families.

The campaigns aim to provide food support, financial aid, healthcare services, and awareness programs. This campaign is part of a joint strategy and integration between the ministry and civil society organizations to address economic and social challenges. It reaffirms our commitment to achieving social justice and offering all kinds of support to the most vulnerable families.

Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity, issued a ministerial decree ensuring that families benefiting from the conditional cash support program “Takaful and Karama” will not be excluded if they also participate in and benefit from the digital savings and borrowing program “Tahweesha” by the
National Council for Women or any of the economic empowerment programs provided by the Ministry of Social Solidarity.

This is to help them transition from receiving financial aid to becoming productive and working, in line with efforts to unify and integrate the cash support programs for the most in-need families.

The “Tahweesha” program assists women and girls in various villages across Egypt in saving money, helping them move out of the cycle of poverty and need.
