The UNSMIL welcomed the release of former Minister of Finance Faraj Boumtari, who was detained a few days ago.
UNSMIL reiterated its call for the immediate release of all those arbitrarily detained, including civilians, civic activists, political figures, and members of the security service.
UNSMIL reminds all law enforcement agencies and other actors of their duty to uphold human rights and the rule of law, which includes ensuring judicial oversight of arrest and detention practices.
