UNICEF hands over to the Medical Supplement Department 55,000 doses of measles and rubella vaccines.

UNICEF delivered 55,000 doses of measles and rubella vaccines to the Medical Supplement Department, in response to the current measles outbreak in the south of Libya.

The organization said on its Facebook page that it had secured the vaccine in partnership with the National Center for Disease Control and the GNU Ministry of Health, highlighting that the vaccines arrived last week and were handed over to the Medical Supplement Department as part of the national campaign to combat measles and rubella, targeting the southern region as a first stage.

The organization stated that this campaign will help conduct a measles campaign in the south, especially targeting children between 9 months and 6 years of age, indicating that it is part of larger efforts to combat the recent outbreak of measles and prevent its spread to other parts of the country.

“UNICEF is committed to ensuring that every child in Libya has access to life-saving vaccines and will continue to work with the Ministry of Health and partners to improve the health and well-being of children across the country”, UNICEF added.
