The Department of Mine Affairs, one of the departments of the Ministry of Environment, announced today, Wednesday, its intention to launch its national strategy for the years 2023-2028 during the coming month of August, under the auspices of Prime Minister Muhammad Al-Sudani.
The Director General of the Department of Mine Affairs, Sabah Hassan Al-Husseini, said in a statement: “The Prime Minister, Muhammad Al-Sudani, will directly sponsor the launch ceremony of this strategy, in which the Minister of Environment, Nizar Amedi, will officially announce its launch to take its operational measures into action.”
Al-Husseini added: “The ceremony will witness the presence of a number of embassies, donor countries, and representatives of UN agencies such as the Geneva International Center for Demining for Humanitarian Purposes (GISHD), the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), and the relevant national, international and governmental executive bodies.”
