Train collision kills 5, injures 25 in West Bengal, India


At least five people were killed and around 25 others injured Monday in a collision between a passenger train and a freight train in the Indian state of West Bengal, causing three passenger carriages to derail, according to Indian police.

Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, stated that the accident occurred in the Darjeeling area when a freight train collided with the Kanchanjunga Express, which connects the northeastern states of Assam and Tripura with West Bengal.

She added that doctors, ambulances, and disaster response teams were dispatched to the site to carry out rescue operations and provide medical assistance.
