Today’s Newspapers Follow PM’s Chairing Of A Meeting To Discuss The Reality Of The Industrial Sector In Iraq…And The Govt’s Efforts To Overcome The Water Crisis

The newspapers issued in Baghdad today, Wednesday, July 19th, focused on the Prime Minister, Muhammad Al-Sudani, presiding over a meeting devoted to discussing the reality of the industrial sector in Iraq and the path of launching a new industrial initiative to advance this sector, and the government’s endeavor to overcome the water crisis.

The semi-official Al-Sabah newspaper, affiliated with the Iraqi Media Network, said that Prime Minister Muhammad al-Sudani, when chairing a meeting devoted to discussing the reality of the industrial sector in Iraq and the path of launching a new industrial initiative to advance this sector, in the presence of a number of consultants and representatives of the private sector, directed that urgent and rapid measures be taken to enable the State aims to improve the environment for industrial investment and develop its contribution to the national economy.

The newspaper quoted a statement by the Prime Minister’s Media Office as saying, “The meeting discussed including the initiative in reviewing decisions and legislation related to the industrial sector, as well as preparing a package of urgent decisions aimed at rapid support for the national industrial sector.”

The newspaper stressed Al-Sudani’s assertion of “the government’s keenness to adopt promising national industrial projects, which would be a partner of the state in implementing economic development plans,” noting that “the government is serious in its endeavor to advance the industrial reality as part of the economic reform adopted within the priorities of the government program.”

Regarding the government’s endeavor to overcome the water crisis and advance the irrigation reality, Al-Zaman newspaper (Iraq edition) said that the Ministry of Water Resources discussed with Parliament confronting the water crisis and advancing the irrigation reality.

The newspaper quoted a statement as saying that (Minister Aoun Diab discussed with MP Kadhim Al-Shammari, securing water quotas and providing water for drinking water stations operating in all governorates), noting that (the ministry and the government are seeking to overcome the conditions of water scarcity that the country is going through, and continue to remove abuses on irrigation projects and sub- rivers, and completion of clearing rivers, which would provide water rations and deliver water to last area.

The newspaper continued, for his part, Al-Shammari confirmed that (there are continuous efforts by the staff working in the governorates to confront the problem of water scarcity and reduce its effects).
