The White House: The United States does not recognize the Taliban as the official government of Afghanistan


Coordinator of Strategic Communications at the US National Security Council, John Kirby, stated that the United States does not recognize the Taliban as a ruling authority in Afghanistan.

Kirby said in a press conference: ‘The Taliban did not fulfill any commitment they made when they came to power. We are not in a position and will not be in a position to recognize the Taliban as the official government of Afghanistan, and if Russia does that, it sends a bad signal to others,’ he said.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking about the movement’s status, stated that this matter is constantly under discussion, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia will take a decision to exclude the Taliban from the terrorist list.

Russia did not officially recognize the government formed in Afghanistan, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Taliban needed to solve the problem of the comprehensive government, and this would be a step towards official recognition.

, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that it would not be possible to talk about the Kremlin’s position on the possibility of excluding the Taliban from the list of terrorist organizations except after studying this issue.
