The number of martyred journalists has risen to 170 since the beginning of the war on Gaza

The number of Palestinian journalists who were martyred by the bullets of the Israeli occupation army has risen to 170 since the beginning of the war on Gaza on October 7.

The government media office in the Gaza Strip said in a statement today, Tuesday: The number of martyred journalists has risen to “170 journalists since the beginning of the war of extermination on the Gaza Strip, after the martyrdom of colleague journalist Hamza Murtaja.”

It pointed out that journalist Murtaja was martyred in an Israeli bombardment of Gaza City, condemning the targeting of Palestinian journalists by the Israeli occupation army, and holding it responsible for the crimes of killing journalists.

In its statement, the media office called on the international community and international organizations concerned with journalistic work in the world to “deter the occupation and prosecute it in international courts for its ongoing crimes and pressure it to stop the crime of genocide and the crime of killing and assassinating Pale
stinian journalists.”

According to Palestinian medical sources, journalist Murtaja was martyred in an Israeli bombing that targeted the “Mustafa Hafez” school, which houses hundreds of displaced people west of Gaza City, leaving 12 martyrs and dozens of injuries.

Palestinian and international institutions had previously warned of the Israeli occupation army targeting journalistic crews in the Gaza Strip, but Tel Aviv continued to target them despite them wearing press vests and media helmets, defying all international warnings.
