The activities of the central celebration of the National Day of the Iraqi Press kicked off at Al-Rashid Hotel in Baghdad, under the auspices of the Prime Minister, Muhammad Al-Sudani, and in the presence of the President of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, President of the Federation of Arab Journalists, Moayad Al-Lami, and a number of MPs, ministers, and Arab and foreign press delegations.
The President of the Federation of Arab Journalists, the head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, Moayad Al-Lami, expressed his thanks, in a speech delivered at the celebration, to Prime Minister Muhammad Al-Sudani for sponsoring the National Day ceremony for the Iraqi Press, which he described “a significant and successful milestone in the march of modern Iraq.
Al-Lami said: “The journalistic family will remain a platform and beacon for the sacrifices made by its sons in service of this country.”
Al-Lami added in his speech: “During the war against ISIS, we offered hundreds of martyrs and wounded.”
Al-Lami explained that: During six months, the government worked greatly towards reconstruction and development in a large number of Baghdad regions.
He added, “We are proud that there is no journalist imprisoned for an opinion case during the last period.”
