Syrian Newspaper: Foreign Minister In Baghdad Next Saturday

The Syrian newspaper, Al-Watan, quoted sources as saying that Foreign Minister Faisal Al-Miqdad will go to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on an official visit, at the invitation of his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein.

It added: Al-Miqdad will meet with the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Rashid, the Prime Minister, Muhammad Al-Sudani, and the Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi. He will also hold a meeting with his counterpart, Fuad Hussein, and the talks will focus on strengthening bilateral relations, and the latest developments in the region.

It was clear that Al-Miqdad’s visit to Iraq comes in light of the continuous Arab movement to restore momentum for joint Arab action, and the positive atmosphere in the region after Jeddah summit.

The newspaper pointed out that Syria had participated a few days ago in the “Development Road” conference, which was held in Baghdad and included the transport ministers of Iraq’s neighboring countries and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
