Sharjah, UK’s RAU forge sustainable partnership

SHARJAH: H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Al Dhaid, has signed a collaborative agreement with the Royal Agricultural University in the United Kingdom. This agreement entails joint efforts in developing a Bachelor’s programme in Sustainable Agriculture and engaging in various scientific research initiatives related to agriculture. Collaboration will extend to faculty exchange, training, and sharing of scientific knowledge and facilitate student exchange programmes for training and skill enhancement.

H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan expressed gratitude towards the Royal Agricultural University for their continuous support, which will greatly contribute to the University of Sharjah’s scientific progress in the agricultural domain. He praised the esteemed reputation of the Royal Agricultural University globally and acknowledged its extensive experience, making it a scientific and practical leader in the field, hence the selection fo
r collaboration.

The Royal Agricultural University, established in 1845, is the world’s oldest agricultural college and ranks among the top 100 universities globally. Offering over 20 undergraduate and master’s programmes in agriculture, including agricultural and food business management, environment, and food.

Dr. Peter McCaffery, Vice Chancellor of the Royal Agricultural University, emphasised that the University of Al Dhaid’s educational experience would be distinguished by its scientific plans in agriculture and veterinary medicine, aligning with efforts by prestigious universities to bridge theory with practice and promote innovation, contributing to addressing global challenges in food and environmental security.
