Renewed fighting in Sudan claims 20 lives

At least 20 people were killed and seven dozen others injured in clashes between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Saturday.

The fatalities include 16 civilians in Nyala city, capital of South Darfur state, southwest Sudan, and four in El-Obeid city, the capital of the central state of North Kurdufan, witnesses told KUNA.

The belligerent forces used the artillery and the Sudanese army launched air attacks in hostilities in Nyala, Khartoum and other parts of the country on Saturday.

The air attacks targeted RSF groups on the Khartoum-Gezira road, southeast the capital city of Khartoum.

Since the outbreak of the conflict on April 15, more than 3,000 people, mainly civilians have been killed and 6,000 others injured, in addition to three million refugees and internally displaced people.
