Public will must be embodied in upcoming parliamentary elections: Political Affairs Minister

Amman: Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Haditha Khraisha said that the public will must be embodied in the parliamentary elections, fanaticism must be ignored, and voters must elect representatives with comprehensive programs.

Speaking to MPs, public figures, and residents from the northern Governorate of Irbid on Tuesday, Khraisha highlighted key political issues, the modernization system, the party and election laws, the role of the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs in this regard, and the role of government agencies in the next phase.

During the meeting, Khraisha called for ignoring the mentality of electing the services deputy, because the deputy’s task is to legislate and monitor the performance of governments.

The minister emphasized that His Majesty King Abdullah II paid great attention to youth, which was translated into the election and party laws, pointing out that the legislative environment is an incentive for youth to engage in the political and party process, espe
cially after lowering the age of candidacy to 25 years for wider youth participation in the upcoming parliaments.

He expressed his hope that the participation rate of citizens in the Lower House elections, which will be held next September, will increase, noting that the number of party members is increasing significantly, currently reaching 88,000 people.

The minister reiterated the freedom of party work and the absence of any authority of the ministry, the government or any party over them, according to the law, adding that these Jordanian parties are national parties and work on a programmatic basis.
