PM Stresses The Importance Of Reforming The Educational System As A Basis For Any Reform/ More

Prime Minister Muhammad Al-Sudani stressed the importance of reforming the educational system, as a basis for any reform, since Iraq is a country of civilizations and the first to develop education systems.

A statement by the media office of the Prime Minister stated: “Al-Sudani received, this morning, Thursday, the delegation of the International Education Organization, headed by David Edwards, in the presence of the head of the advisory board, the head of teachers’ syndicate, the head of the teachers’ union in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, and the advisor to the prime minister for education affairs.”

The statement added: “The meeting witnessed the discussion of assisting the Teachers Syndicate in efforts to develop the capabilities of teachers according to advanced curricula, and emphasizing the importance of sustaining quality education, as a participatory task that falls on the shoulders of organizations and unions concerned with protecting the profession and developing teachers’ capabilities.”

During the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of reforming the educational system, as a basis for any reform, since Iraq is a country of civilizations and the first to develop education systems, which makes it imperative for us to live up to this responsibility.

He stressed the great benefits in this regard, so the government efforts started with approving the education strategy (2022-2031) in cooperation with UNESCO, UNICEF and the World Bank to develop the educational reality in Iraq.

The Prime Minister referred to the need to update the educational curricula, the participatory relationship between trade unions and government institutions concerned with the education sector, and the search for the best ways to develop and qualify the capabilities of those who take on these tasks.
