The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, recalled today, Friday, the anniversary of the death of Sheikh Ahmed Al-Waeli, while stressing that his biography was an example to follow.
Al-Sudani said in a statement: “Today we have the twentieth anniversary of the departure of the dean of Al-Husseini pulpit, Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Al-Waeli (may Almighty God have mercy on him).”
He added, “The biography of Sheikh Al-Waeli was an example to be followed in confronting dictatorship and injustice, through the missionary and advocacy platform, through which he worked to spread moral, human, cultural and knowledge ideas.”
He indicated that “throughout the period of his preoccupation with the platform mission, the contents of national and Islamic unity were the prominent feature of all his speeches, which drew a distinctive approach for him, in which he won the respect and appreciation of all Muslims.”
He continued: “As we remember today the anniversary of his death, we evoke the great values and the tolerant message of Islamic thought, of which Sheikh Al-Waeli was one of its main pillars.”
Al-Sudani concluded his statement by saying: “May God bless Sheikh Al-Waeli with the abundance of his mercy… and our condolences and sympathy to his family and all his fans.”
