OIC welcomes de-escalation deal in Yemen

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretariat welcomed on Wednesday the declaration by UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg of a de-escalation agreement between Yemen’s legitimate government and Houthis regarding the country’s banking sector and airways.

In a statement, the Secretariat reiterated its support to the efforts made by the UN and its envoy to reach an inclusive solution to the Yemeni crisis.

It lauded Saudi Arabia’s efforts made for a sustainable political solution to the crisis, based on the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism, and the outcomes of the national dialogue as well as the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, including 2216.

The Secretariat affirmed again its backing to Yemen to end the sufferings of its people, and achieve their peace, security, stability and development.

Under the agreement, Yemeni flights will resume between Sanaa and Jordan, and they will reach three daily. In addition, flights to Cairo and India will begin dail
