NCEMA launches initiative to train specialised volunteers for crisis response

ABU DHABI: The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has held a training workshop to launch the National Programme for Developing Specialised Volunteer Cadres for Emergency Response.

The programme, held in coordination with Emirates Foundation, aims to enhance the country’s readiness and response to emergencies and disasters and train volunteers in key areas that support national emergency response efforts.

It includes three key phases: the “foundational phase” focuses on providing basic training for volunteers, followed by the “specilaised phase”, where volunteers receive training in specific areas. Finally, the “practical phase” allows volunteers to apply the skills they have acquired through hand-on exercises.

Ali Rashid Al Neyadi, Director-General of NCEMA, highlighted the programme’s importance as a vital step in strengthening the UAE’s emergency response capabilities. “By training a specialised volunteer workforce, we ensure that we are prepared to provide immediate and
effective support during crises,” he noted.
