Most Of Iraq’s Governorates Will Continue To Record Temperatures Around 50 Or Higher Until Next Monday

The Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring Authority expected that most of Iraq’s governorates will continue to record temperatures around fifty degrees Celsius or higher, until next Monday.

“The weather forecasting department previously noted that the country was affected by a severe heat wave as a result of the deepening of the seasonal heat depression, starting from today, Friday, and continuing until next Monday,” Amer Al-Jabri, media director of the Meteorology Authority, told the official agency.

He added, “All regions of the country will be affected, especially the center and the south, as it is expected that temperatures will be recorded in the range of 50-52 degrees Celsius,” noting that “the temperatures have been fluctuating since last July, between high and low, as they decreased by 3-4 degrees before the new heat wave.”

He continued, “Climate change is one of the causes affecting the rise and fluctuation of temperatures, so we see that it is between a continuous rise and fall, and we believe that the fluctuation will continue until the middle of next September, when temperatures begin to decline.”
