Amman: Jordan’s extensive relief efforts in the Gaza Strip are set to be highlighted at an international conference on June 11, focusing on the emergency humanitarian response in the region.
The conference, which will be held at the King Hussein bin Talal Convention Center on the Dead Sea shore, is jointly organized by the United Nations, Jordan, and Egypt. The initiative follows invitations from the leaders of the three countries and the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
The event aims to “identify ways to strengthen the international community’s response to the humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip,” according to a statement from the Royal Hashemite Court. It will gather “leaders of states, heads of government, and heads of international humanitarian and relief organizations” to develop effective response mechanisms, address operational and logistical needs, and ensure a coordinated approach to the crisis.
Jordan has sent a total of 1,865 trucks of aid by land across the King Hussein Bridge. Of
these, 1,122 trucks were dispatched by the Jordan Hashemite Charitable Organization in collaboration with international organizations, while 743 trucks were sent in cooperation with the Jordanian Armed Forces.
In addition, there have been 358 airdrops. This includes 257 airdrops in cooperation with other nations and 101 airdrops conducted by the Jordan Armed Forces – the Arab Army.
Aid sent by air through Egypt’s Al-Arish Airport totals 53 aircraft. Thirteen aircraft were arranged through the Jordan Hashemite Charitable Organization, and 40 aircraft were flown in partnership with relief organizations.
Direct relief and food aid provided in cooperation with partner organizations within the sector have benefited approximately 717,000 individuals.
The gross weight of aid sent and distributed amounts to 31,000 tons. This includes over 20,000 tons of food, approximately 2,400 tons of shelter materials, about 1,500 tons of medicines and medical supplies, around 720 tons of sanitary materials, and approximately
6,000 tons of aid distributed inside Gaza through partner organizations.
This comprehensive effort underscores Jordan’s unwavering commitment to providing critical support to those in need in the Gaza Strip.
