Jordan Hosts 16th International Congress on Obstetrics, Gynecology


The 16th International Congress of the Jordanian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (JSOG) commenced on Wednesday, marking a three-day event in collaboration with the Jordanian British Society for Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists – Jordan.

Dr. Abeer Annab, President of the JSOG and the Congress, highlighted the significant advancements in obstetrics and gynecology over the past decades, which have enhanced the accuracy of diagnosis and treatment in women’s and children’s health. She emphasized the importance of focusing on sub-specialties that improve patient care outcomes.

Expressing pride in Jordan’s healthcare achievements, Dr. Annab noted the country’s success in hosting international medical conferences and fostering partnerships with globally recognized institutions.

She acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Health, the Royal Medical Services, universities, and the private sector in making the conference possible.

The conf
erence aims to showcase the latest developments in obstetrics and gynecology, with contributions from a distinguished group of Arab and international speakers. Dr. Annab also addressed the ongoing challenges faced by women and children in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing aggression.

Dr. Mazen ElZibdeh, President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists – Jordan, welcomed the participants, underscoring the importance of scientific collaboration between Jordanian and international organizations.

Dr. Maher Maaytah, President of the Jordanian British Society for Obstetrics and Gynecology, announced that the conference would feature discussions on a wide range of scientific topics, with over 400 specialists and resident doctors in attendance.

Dr. Amer Gharaibeh, head of the scientific committee, added that the event would cover 70 scientific papers on women’s and fetal health, with 28 lecturers from countries including Britain, Italy, the United States, Belgium, Turkey, France, and Russia, along
side Jordanian doctors. These experts will present the latest research and innovations in the field.

The conference also includes five specialized workshops on gynecological laparoscopy, vaginal ultrasound, legal midwifery, fetal heart monitoring during childbirth, and cosmetic gynecological surgeries.

Accredited by the Jordan Medical Council, the conference serves the dual purpose of professional development and continuing medical education. A medical exhibition featuring local and international pharmaceutical and medical device companies will also be held on the sidelines of the event.
