Jordan, Algeria discuss cooperation

The Senate’s Jordanian-Algerian Friendship Committee paid a visit to the Algerian Embassy in Amman on Monday to discuss relations between the two countries. The visit was to congratulate Algerian Ambassador Abdulkarim Behha on his new post and wish him success in serving the common interests of both Jordan and Algeria, according to the committee’s head, Senator Zuhair Abu Fares. He said the long-standing Jordanian-Algerian relations have been advancing in all fields, particularly after His Majesty King Abdullah’s visit to Algeria and his meeting with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Fares called for gearing the potentials of the two countries to further enhance cooperation in investment and trade and implement bilateral agreements. The leaderships of both countries have shown a strong desire for cooperation, creating numerous opportunities for public and private organizations to collaborate and expand their efforts in economic, social, and cultural spheres, he added. Behha thanked the committee for its efforts in strengthening Jordanian-Algerian ties, pointing to potentials in the commercial, economic and political fields. He emphasized the significance of the public and private institutions’ role to capitalize on the vast opportunities for cooperation, commending fruitful endeavors in various sectors, such as health and medicine. The senators noted that Jordan and Algeria saw eye to eye on political positions on a host of Arab and global matters, chief among them is the Palestinian cause and the Hashemite Custodianship over holy sites in Jerusalem, commending Algeria’s efforts during hosting a recent Arab League summit.
