Italian exports up 10.7% in April

The Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat) said that Italian exports were up by 10.7 percent in April with respect to the same month last year, while imports rose by 1.4 percent.

Italian News Agency (ANSA) quoted the national statistics agency stating the year-on-year growth regarded “almost all the main trade partner countries”, both EU and non-EU ones, including Germany, with the rise in exports there ending “a year of uninterrupted decline”.

It said Italian exports grew by 2.3 percent in April compared to March and imports fell by 1.1 percent in month-on-month terms.

In April 2024, the trade balance registered a surplus of +4,807 million euros (-228 million Euros deficit for EU countries and +5,036 million euros surplus for non-EU countries), Istat said.
