Iran denies arming Ansar Allah in its naval operations

Iranian permanent mission to the United Nations in New York denied, on Thursday, arming the Yemeni Ansar Allah group in its military operations against ships linked to Israel, on the high seas.

The denial came after a report issued by the US military, yesterday, Wednesday, which claims that the Norwegian ship “Strinda” was bombed last December by the Yemeni Ansar Allah group, using an Iranian-made anti-ship cruise missile in the Red Sea.

The report claimed that the engine used in the Iranian missile has unique features “consistent with the engine wreckage recovered from the Ansar Allah attack on the Strinda ship.”

Iran’s mission to the United Nations rejected the US allegations and denied arming the Yemeni Ansar Allah group.

“We are aware that the Yemeni Ansar Allah group has significantly developed its military capabilities based on its own resources,” it added.

The mission continued, “The long war against the group is the main factor behind the expansion of their military capabilities,” according to th
e Iranian news agency, IRNA.
