Integrity Commission: severe imprisonment for three years for the former Mayor of Baghdad

The Federal Integrity Commission announced the issuance of a judgment in absentia ruling that the former Mayor of Baghdad be severely imprisoned for violating his job duties.

Speaking about the details of the case that it investigated and referred to the judiciary, the Commission’s Investigation Department said: “The Rusafa Misdemeanor Court, which is specialized in integrity issues, issued a judgment in absentia ruling hard imprisonment for a period of three years against the former Mayor of Baghdad, as a result of the violations committed that accompanied the distribution of plots in accordance with a decision of the Cabinet No. (254 of 2013).

The Commission added that the details of the case indicate that the convict was previously covered by the provisions of the General Amnesty Law in this case, but the Federal Integrity Commission submitted a cassation appeal and the decision was overturned based on this appeal.

The Commission added that the court, after examining the evidence and evidence in the case, and what was stated in the cassation appeal to the commission, issued a judgment in absentia against the convict, which stipulates severe imprisonment for a period of three years based on the provisions of Article (331) of the Penal Code.
