Governor of Kirkuk: The parties that talk about the Governor’s position going to a non-Arab figure do not have the majority

Governor of Kirkuk Rakan al-Jubouri confirmed that the parties that talk about the governor’s position going to a non-Arab figure do not have the majority.

He said in a statement, “The governor’s position going to a non-Arab figure does not come through statements and speculations, but through political consensus.. indicating that “if the parties that talk about the governor’s position going to a non-Arab figure had the majority, the matter would have been settled.”

He added that “the administration that everyone agrees on must be respected and cooperation in its success must be made regardless of the governor’s nationality.. indicating that “the elected figure must come in a way that reassures everyone and that there is no fear of any component.”

He pointed out that the rotation of positions in Kirkuk is subject to dialogue among political blocs, noting that “citizens and politicians in Kirkuk must accept that the one who runs the province runs it according to the law and not according to whims for the be
nefit of a particular component or party.”

He continued that “the search for personal interests in Kirkuk is a condition that exists among the components,” stressing that “the political agreements on the rotation of the position of Kirkuk governor have not reached their end.”

He explained that “some parties are seeking to obtain the position of governor within a short period, and this is what hinders the formation of the government.
